SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls residents are being encouraged to file for the city’s property tax refund program. It refunds the municipal portion of property taxes on owner-occupied homes for low income elderly and disabled people. You automatically qualify if you’re approved for the state’s Assessment Freeze for the elderly and disabled. Minnehaha County Treasurer Kris Swanson says it has made a big difference for some residents, cutting some property tax bills by half or more. The deadline for applying is April first.
