Move to make Future Fund changes permanent fails in tie vote

PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — Legislators deadlocked in Pierre Friday on a proposal to make changes to the Future Fund state law.  Thursday, Governor Rhoden issued an executive order that establishes guardrails around Future Fund spending, requiring initial oversight before funds are distributed.  Sioux Falls Democrat Erik Muckey said he believes the executive order does not go far enough, and should become law.  The Senate State Affairs committee adopted an amendment to a bill that would codify the restrictions in state law, but the bill failed to pass as committee members ended with a tie vote.
