New task force formed to plan future redevelopment of Smithfield site

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — A new task force will begin work soon on determining the future of the current Smithfield Foods plant in Sioux Falls.  T. Denny Sanford has pledged $50-million for redevelopment of the 100-acre site.  Smithfield plans to build a new plant and move to Foundation Park in northwestern Sioux Falls.  The redevelopment work could begin in 2030.
