SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls City Hall is working to save some time on a recount in the runoff election for mayor. The City Council was set to certify the election results next Tuesday. Now, the timeline has been changed, and the votes will be canvassed Friday morning. After results are certified, candidate Jamie Smith is expected to call for a recount, after falling just two votes short of Christine Erickson’s total. Outgoing Mayor Paul TenHaken says the process could take several weeks to resolve.
