Military Leaders Are Pushing to Upgrade Fighter Jets in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) – The South Dakota Air National Guard is in the running to receive F-35 fighter jets.

Business and military leaders are pushing to have the F-35s replace the Guard’s current fleet of F-16s stationed at Joe Foss Field in Sioux Falls.

There are about a dozen units vying for the F-35 upgrades, and officials are expected to narrow the field in December.
