November’s Artist of the Month is… Zara Larsson
The Swedish Pop Powerhouse Who Refuses to Be Tamed
Born Zara Maria Larsson on December 16, 1997, in Solna, Sweden, Zara was destined for the spotlight long before the rest of the world learned how to pronounce her last name. At just 10 years old, she won the Swedish television talent competition Talang in 2008, the country’s version of Got Talent. While most kids her age were worrying about homework and what to watch on TV, Zara was already showing off the vocal chops that would eventually make her an international pop sensation. Talk about an early start!
Zara’s career really took off internationally in the mid-2010s, when infectious pop anthems like “Lush Life,” “Never Forget You” with MNEK, and “Ain’t My Fault” introduced her powerful voice and confident personality to audiences around the globe. Then came “Symphony,” her 2017 collaboration with British electronic group Clean Bandit, which became a massive hit and topped the UK singles chart. With its soaring melody and dance-floor-ready beat, the song proved that Zara could turn even an ordinary Tuesday into a full-blown emotional music video.
In 2017, Zara released So Good, her international breakthrough album, followed by Poster Girl in 2021 and Venus in 2024. Her music blends dance-pop, R&B, electronic beats, and big, unapologetic vocals. She’s also known for speaking her mind, championing women’s rights, and embracing her individuality rather than trying to fit neatly into somebody else’s idea of a pop star. In short, she’s not just here to sing the chorus — she’s here to make a statement.
More recently, Zara entered a new chapter with Midnight Sun, released in September 2025, continuing her evolution as a songwriter and performer. With billions of YouTube views across her catalog and a growing collection of international hits, she’s gone from Swedish talent-show winner to one of the country’s most recognizable modern pop exports. And if you think she’s slowing down, well, you clearly haven’t heard the beat drop yet.
