SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — The 70-year old Minnehaha County Administration Building is showing its age. County Commissioners were briefed on a proposal to replace and demolish the current facility. Commission Chair Dean Karsky says it’s time to move forward, “The building we’re in is 70 years old, and we made it look good a few years ago, but there’s things we couldn’t take care of without gutting the building. This building has served its purpose very well but it’s time to move forward and plan for the next 70 years.”
The plans include construction of a parking garage across 6th Street, which would be connected to the new facility with a skywalk. The proposal would cost about $230-thousand.
