UNDATED (KELO.com) — Voters may get the final say on a property tax relief plan passed by this year’s legislature. South Dakotans for Fair Taxes – a coalition of citizen groups – has launched a campaign to place Senate Bill 245 on the ballot. The bill would raise an estimated 110-million dollars a year to be placed in a property tax relief fund from a scheduled sales tax increase of .3%. Cathy Brechtelsbauer, one of the group leaders, calls the bill a despicable and unfair transfer of wealth from low income residents to high income residents.
