SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls School board has approved the budget for the upcoming school year. It calls for general fund revenues of about 233-million dollars. Expenses were cut by more than a million dollars, even though teacher salaries increased by more than 2 1/2-percent. The salary increase was approved , even though state aid only increased by 1.4-percent. The good news – Business Manager Cameron Kerkhove said the school’s portion of property taxes on an average home will decrease by about 23-percent. This was Kerkove’s first meeting as Business Manager following Todd Vik’s retirement this past month.
