PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) – Supporters of Amendment L on the South Dakota ballot have issued cease and desist letters to media this week requesting they stop airing what they call misleading and untruthful commercials funded by opponents.
The ads claim the Vote Yes campaign is funded by California billionaires, but the campaign says that isn’t true.
Prime Sponsor of the Amendment, Sioux falls Representative John Hughes says the measure is an effort to protect the state constitution.
Proposed Amendment L protects the South Dakota Constitution and South Dakota citizens by requiring a 60 percent vote to change the Constitution.
All other measures remain unchanged.
